Going 5!

The birthday presents I ordered online for my son's upcoming birthday on the 16th came in today. The delivery man buzzed on our intercom this morning and my nosy preschooler called my attention as I was in the kitchen making his breakfast. He usually follows me to meet the guests outside. Surprisingly this time he didn't show interest in who's at the door because he was busy singing along with Mr. Tumble!

Yes, he has progressed from liking trains with faces (Thomas et al)
, he now appreciates the fast bullet city trains. He is indeed growing up, saying that Thomas engines are for babies! Luckily, they're all from the same maker which is Tomica and his old Thomas tracks can be used with his new fast city train which I got him. I also got a new of tracks that has a railroad crossing on it. I am sure he's gonna go nuts when he opens his gifts.

So the parcels are carefully hidden in the spare room now. I can't wait to see his reaction when he sees them with his birthday cake and balloons! Roll on August 16!

thomas all day long!

Andy is a certified Thomas-olic. When he turned 20 months, there was never a day Thomas the Tank Engine is out of his grasp. After being away from him for almost a month, we were together again 24/7. We watch together, eat together and believe it or not.. bathe together.. Yes, I'm not a nanny-fan so I chose to take care of my son personally as much as I can. As long as my husband can put things together..;)
I used to think Thomas and Friends a really boring show... but when I heard my son hummed the theme song at the age of 20 months, in a second I was a fan! We watch the series on Playhouse Disney everyday 3:00 in the afternoon and the replay at 6PM. He already has James, Henry and Gordon, and we're planning to buy all of the 8 engines for his birthday. I first bought him the starter set at 600 bucks with Thomas, Annie and Clarabelle on it. I saw his eyes sparkled and from that moment on, Thomas became a household name.
Thomas and Friends theme was the original plan for his 2nd birthday, but since Thomas isn't that famous here in the Philippines yet, I guess I'll just move it next year if he still adores trains. However, his birthday theme this year will be Jollibee.
By the way, if you try to scroll down for my earlier posts, I was in a dilemna of how I will wean him entirely.. Yes, he's not nursing anymore and he sleeps sound at night without tantrums and all. Gerard and I indeed undergone some difficulties before he adjusted completely. He also eats well and drinks youghart milk but I'm still hoping and praying that someday soon, he will at least try to taste milk and reconsider. He is a very good and smart boy and we are very lucky to have him as our son.

Happy 60th Surprise Birthday

A week from now my mother in law will be turning 60. We've been preparing a surprise birthday party for her since last month. Its funny because she was in "tampo mode" lately. She thinks that no one cares or even remembered that her 60th birthday is coming. If she only knew. I just hope that we can keep this secret until the actual day comes. Shhh....

I printed the invitations and they've been given away to some relatives, her friends and officemates already. I had to come up with a short but dedicative program by Wednesday for them to check. My husband's cousin and I were appointed to be the hosts.. thanks for some sites which I got most of the ideas from. It's going to be a Retro Party: Bringing Back the Fabulous 60's theme and we asked the guests to come dressed in their best retro outfit. I prepared 20 pieces of CD's and 10 DVD's of Hairspray and its soundtrack for the giveaways and prizes. We will give awards for the 1st 5 guests to come, 5 prizes for the guests in outfit, boxes of chocolates for the game winners.

We also booked the projector rental service because I created her an audio-visual presentation. It will be the highlight of the program, everyone will see her old kept pictures.

Mommy Lolit is the most hardworking person I knew. We hardly see her at home and at her age, its amazing how she can keep up with her work schedule. Mommy deserves the best party her children could ever give. I just wish she still doesn't have a nose to everything that we re planning for her. There will be a live band that she loves, and the selection of her favorite dish. Her childhood friends and highschool classmates, her family and significant people in her life will all be there.

Enjoy your party Mommy, you deserve all the happiness and blessings life can offer. Thank you for accepting me in the family. I'm very lucky to have you as a mother in law. Happy birthday!
